Server address
https://dreamgraph.cloud

Enter this address the first time you open the extension.

Start in three steps

  1. 1

    Install the extension

Add Murmur to Chrome. A chat button appears in the corner of the pages you visit.

  2. 2

    Connect to the server

Open the window from the extension icon or with Alt+Shift+M and enter the server address shown on this page.

  3. 3

    Create your account

Pick a unique nickname and a strong password. Then find people by nickname or join public groups.

How Murmur protects your conversations

Encrypted in your browser

A message is encrypted before it leaves your computer, and only the recipient can open it. Not even the server team can read it.

Gone from the server

The server keeps an encrypted message only until it is delivered, then deletes it. You can see when that happens.

A password only you know

Your password also protects your encryption key. That is why nobody can recover it, not even us.

Know who is on the other end

Compare the safety code with your contact. If someone’s key changes, Murmur warns you before you send.

Frequently asked questions

I forgot my password. How do I recover my account?
It cannot be recovered. Your password also unlocks your encryption key, and the server never knows it — that is what stops anyone, including us, from reading your messages.

Create a new account with a different nickname and let your contacts know.
Can the server administrator read my messages?
No. Messages are encrypted in your browser and only the recipient has the key to open them. The server holds only the encrypted content, and only until it is delivered.
Why don’t my conversations show up on another computer?
Each message is deleted from the server as soon as it reaches your first device, so the history stays there. You can sign in on another computer and receive new messages on it.
How do I open, close and move the window?
Click the Murmur icon in Chrome’s toolbar, press Alt+Shift+M, or use the round button in the corner of the page.

Drag the top bar to move it, the top-left corner to resize it, and double-click the bar to send it back to the corner.
What is the difference between a group and a channel?
In a group, every member can talk. In a channel, only the owner and admins post; members only receive, like a notice board. Both can be public (anyone can find and join) or private (invite or code only).
What is the safety code for?
To be sure you are talking to the right person. Open the conversation details and compare the numbers with your contact, in person or on a call. If they match, nobody is in the middle. If someone’s key changes, Murmur shows a warning.
The window does not show up on a site. What can I do?
Chrome does not let extensions run on some pages, such as chrome:// pages and the Chrome Web Store; there the chat opens in a tab. If it is a regular site, check Settings → Window to make sure it is not on the hidden sites list.
